The challenge

The city wanted to connect its centre to the coast with a safe, continuous cycle route, but the corridor passed through busy junctions, residential streets and an existing park.

Our approach

We combined detailed street design with extensive public engagement, treating the route as a linear park rather than just a piece of transport infrastructure.

  • Protected lanes with priority at every major junction
  • New tree planting and sustainable drainage along the full length
  • Clear, consistent signage and resting points every kilometre
