The challenge

Northern Lights is a three-day festival spread across the city after dark. Visitors struggled to find installations, and the organisers wanted a more connected experience for both locals and tourists.

Our approach

We designed a joined-up system of physical wayfinding and a lightweight web guide, testing routes at night with real visitors to make sure every sign and screen worked in the dark.

  • Illuminated wayfinding totems at key routes and junctions
  • A mobile-first festival guide with live maps and accessibility information
  • Two interactive light installations co-created with local artists
